WE URGENTLY NEED NEW VOLUNTEERS

Danbury and Bicknacre Community First Responder Group are looking for more volunteers to join a successful and proactive team of volunteers. We respond from home to people in our communities who are suffering from potentially life threatening medical conditions. No previous experience is required as full training and on going support is provided.

Do you live in one of the following villages?

  • Danbury

  • Bicknacre

  • Little Baddow

  • East Hanningfield

  • Woodham Mortimer or

  • Woodham Walter

Could you offer a few hours per week or each month to be on call? If so we would love to hear from you. No previous experience is necessary as full training is given by East of England Ambulance Service.

Once trained volunteers go on call and are provided with all the equipment required (a kit bag which is passed from one volunteer to another) and a mobile phone. If a 999 emergency call is received in the control room from someone in our communities requiring urgent medical assistance a local Community First Responder is activated at the same time as an ambulance or Rapid Response Vehicle. Within the first three to six months of being trained the new volunteer will spend a day as an observer with an ambulance crew to see how things work.

You must be 18 or over (no upper age limit, but you must be fit enough to physical move patients if necessary) and have a clean full UK driving licence and have access to a car.

If you want to do something really worthwhile and make a difference to someone suffering from a potentially life threatening condition, then please contact our coordinator Gordon Wren on 01245 224309
