2009 Our busiest year

This year has seen a significant increase in the number of emergencies being dealt with by volunteers within our group. June saw the group reach a milestone in the number of call outs dealt with. On 9th June we were called to our 500th emergency call since we began. More significant though is the personal achievement of one of our founding members, Dave Spiceley. He was called out for the 250th time. His contribution to our group and to the communities we serve is immeasurable. It is a fantastic achievement and my personal thanks go to him for the huge amount of work he does for our responder group. However I must not forget the contribution of all our volunteers, who regularly give of their free time to be on call for the benefit of everyone who lives or works in our villages, or those who are just visiting. If you would like to join us, no previous First Aid knowledge is necessary as full training is given. All you need is a full driving licence, access to a car, enthusiasm and be reasonably fit. The minimum age to join is 18, however there is no upper age limit, though you must be capable of physically moving a patient if it becomes necessary. If you would like to join, please contact me (Gordon Wren group coordinator on 01245 224309) or e-mail me through the link on this website.
